BIOGRAPHY

After various experiences in different musical genres, in 1987 he graduated in guitar as a private candidate with full marks and honours. From the late 1980s, and for over a decade, he won prizes and received numerous awards in national and international competitions.

The Concert Performer

As a concert performer, he has given numerous concerts in prestigious theatres and concert halls in Italy, France, England, Spain, Germany, Scotland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Turkey, China, Japan, Mexico, Argentina, Canada and several US states: California, Oklahoma, Indiana, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts and New York. As a soloist, he has performed several concerts for guitar and orchestra and collaborated with internationally renowned artists in chamber music ensembles. He has recorded several solo albums for major European, Asian and American record labels, including Soundset Recordings, Da Vinci Classics, GuitArt and Edizioni Curci.

All his music is available on the leading digital platforms. 

The Composer

A refined composer of descriptive music, for several years he has received commissions for new orchestral compositions in Europe, Asia, and from various universities in the United States and Latin America, with which he frequently collaborates and conducts world premieres.

His music for solo guitar is regularly performed and recorded by leading international concert performers.

In recent years, he has focused exclusively on composition and, in his concerts, performs only his own works and personal transcriptions of Italian music. 

The Educator

A former Conservatoire teacher, in 2000 he ranked first overall out of 150 candidates in the First National Competition for the teaching of guitar in state schools with a music curriculum. The recipient of numerous prizes and awards for his prolific work, including the prestigious Chitarra d’Oro for teaching at the International Guitar Conference in 2012, he has also twice received the “Maestro d’Italia” award (2008 and 2012). Internationally recognised as one of the leading experts on guitar orchestras, he gives numerous masterclasses and concerts as a composer and conductor. 

The Author

Internationally, he is one of the most authoritative figures in the field of elementary guitar teaching, as the author of the bestseller LA CHITARRA VOLANTE (Edizioni Curci – Milan), a method for young guitarists which for years has ranked among the Top Ten best-selling and most widely used educational books for musical instruments in Italy. The same method has also been translated into English and Portuguese and adopted by several schools and conservatoires in Europe, as well as in the United States and South America, receiving positive reviews in the most important international specialist magazines. He has published numerous educational works, as well as interesting transcriptions of Italian music for solo guitar.
